On journal article
I was finishing my first draft of my English report on umbilical cord blood banking in Malaysia when I came across this whilst reading an article in the Medical Journal of Malaysia :
“In Malaysia , the experience of umbilical transplant was first reported by Chan from Universiti Malaya who reported the first successful umbilical cord transplant in 1999 involving a 25 months old...
On growing up
I stumbled upon a note I wrote in 2008, on goals for myself - 2009 and beyond.
According to that plan, in 2011 :
I’d have a Masters degree
I’d be working overseas
I’d have finished paying off my PTPTN loan
I’d be finally ready to have a baby
I guess life doesnt always work out as planned :)

On crying wolf
Got an email with ‘URGENT!!’ as subject.
It contained an instruction with no urgency.
Sorry, I’ll be ignoring your ‘URGENT!!’ emails from now onwards.
Don’t wish it were easier, wish you were better.

On thermochemistry
It’s 4am and I’m studying thermochemistry for today’s quiz.
If this how life is going to be like for the next 5.5 years then bring it on!
Life has been a bit slightly off these few days - I’ve been late (thus marked as absent) many times to the 1st class due to my inability to wake up early enough, to get things packed up fast enough and to handle Lyla’s separation anxiety when she’s being dropped off at the nursery. Things went out of rhythm during the semester break.
They say that habits are formed after 21...
On loneliness
I remember being so alone, that the only friends I had were on DVD - all 10 seasons of them.
On love
Statistics class, on scatter plot and bi-variate distribution
Teacher : “There’s usually a correlation between a husband’s height and his wife’s tallness”
Students : *nod* *nod*
Teacher : “A tall woman usually marries a taller man”
Students : *nod* *nod*
Teacher : “But sometimes there are cases where a petite woman...

McDonald's Breakfast and him
Do you want to run with me today? No .. zZZzzZzz
3 hours later …
Yang, I bought you Mc’Donalds. (whilst throwing his running attire all over the room)
OK. Thanks. (mildly annoyed at the sight of his stinky underpants, running vest, socks and running pants on our bedroom floor)
I then went to open the plastic bag. Sausage McMuffin, complete with Hash brown and coffee. Ahh.....

The Brick Wall
But remember, the brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough. They’re there to stop the other people.

Cant wait to live with the love of my life but as the date draws near, I cant help but wishing for this uber-romanticized ceremony to be over as soon as possible.

Mom's Voice-Activated Banking Service
My mom has the best banking privilege in the world. If she needs to transfer something, instead of lining up @ the counters or ATMs or use Online Banking like normal folks, she’d use her voice-activated banking order that goes like this:
“Ija, please transfer RMxx to account xx”
P/s: I have access to her Maybank2U. Her TAC goes to my phone. I originally registered it for her...

Gosh time sure zooms.
I still need to :
register for IELTS (will use money from MMU’s Deposit + RM30)
scrape enough money to save RM500 in ASB for July’s savings even if I have to eat grass for the next 18 days

FYP Update
After a devastating interim presentation in Trimester 2, the groupmate and I sat down and got crackin’. We mutually decided that he’d be doing all the dirty works (documentation, research, compiling, presentation slides) whilst my job would be nothing but purely coding and designing for the next 3 months.
In the end, we nailed it!
Gotten ourselves an A- each. That’s amazing,...

In Love with Photoshop
My new job requires me to design software and web application UIs on top of doing minor programming works. Good enough. After all I’m pretty comfortable doing something that I’m really familiar with.
Here’s a kicker - I’m expected to use free tools - eg GIMP.
Crap.
Dont get me wrong - I think it’s a decent, free raster image editor. But after spending 11 years...
Pay It Forward
One of the thing I vowed to do after earning my own paycheck is to put aside at least 5% of my gross salary for charity. At current salary rate, the amount is sufficient to buy me 3 and a half paperback books every month. Now, some people think that it’s outrageous for me to spare some cash for charity when I’m swimming in study debt myself. Sometimes I do wonder what was I thinking...

My Hours
Early Morning
Needs physical / aural jump start. Good music works best. Door knocking/annoying alarms will result in a really bad day.
BEST Settle as many routine TTDs as possible, especially the ones that dont require much thinking or involve any decision-making processes. These include laundry, ironing, cleaning, prepping for work/school, training for runs, going to school/work etc

Practicality
Dad, daughter and son jogs around the lake. Mom stays behind to prepare food
Mom thinks that she’s making sacrifices for staying behind
Daughter wishes for mom to jog with them. You can buy food but you cant buy time together and health
She thinks mom is using it as an excuse
Mom laughs nervously

[FYP] Opinion
Everybody’s entitled to his own opinions no?
I think… my supervisor is biased
I think… my supervisor hates me
I think… my mupervisor is a quantity > quality kitchen-sinker
I think… I may grow an extra pair of arms and a new brain if I keep on juggling all these alone

[Personal] A short update
OK sidetrack kejap. My closest cousin’s reception is tomorrow and here I am on my bed golek-golek. I’ve been working too hard for the past week - juggling 9 subjects, trying to stay sane while stuffing my head with tonnes of new information and submits as many assignments as possible within Week4-5 pasal after this sure bz with midterms, quizzes, bigger assignments and FYP.
